Mechanical failures take their toll on Cartago-San José train

On Thrusday, INCOFER (Instituto Costarricense de Ferrocarriles) suspended three train services between Cartago and San José due to mechanical equipment problems.

As confirmed by the institute, at first the canceled trips were Cartago-San José at 7:00 a.m., San José-Cartago at 8:05 a.m. and Cartago-San José, at 9:00 a.m.

However, at about 7:46 a.m. INCOFER reported that the last 2 services would be carried out.

The information published on the entity’s social networks upset some users, who expressed through Facebook that the service between the two cities is irregular.

Each day the services gets worse,”

lamented Beatríz Gómez, while others, such as Mauricio Mora, describe it as “shameful”.

The intercity train between Cartago and San José has 5 trips in the mornings, and another 4 trips out of the capital to the ‘old metropolis’. The fee amounts to 550 colones.

It should be noted that INCOFER did not give further details on the damage that affected the equipment and the service.
