Medical students for public hospitals

Tha Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS) is planning to introduce new measures to allow medical students in public hospitals during their final year.

Maria del Rocío Sáenz said new alternatives are being considered by deans and believes the exam is no longer an option since, during the past 5 years, 98% of the students have passed it.

University authorities are against the measure and believe raffling admission quotas would affect doctors’ training quality and they are appealing to keep the implemented exam as selection method.
