MEIC asks businesses to use correct exchange rate

Merchants need to collect the reference price announced by the Central Bank. CRH


Authorities with the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce (MEIC) are reminding merchants that advertise prices in dollars and foreign currency to use the reference value for currency exchanges established by the Central Bank of Costa Rica (BCCR). The exchange rate comes into play when consumers pay or receive change change in colones. Those that fail to use the correct rate may face sanctions under an executive order. The rule applies to all kinds of goods of services, including tourism.
