MEIC is organizing the VI International Forum on Consumer’s Protection in Guanacaste

“New markets, new challenges” are the main topics to be discussed at the VI International Forum on Consumer’s Protection in Guanacaste, where more than 13 countries are going to exchange information about the challenges of electronic trading. It is organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (MEIC). The opening ceremony will be on September 12th at 9:00 a.m., at the Occidental Grand Papagayo Hotel and the Forum will end on September 13th.

The activities will provide the resources needed by the participants to take advantage of the technological developments related to the digital world.

Topics such as regulation, research techniques and new international instruments for the consumer’s protection, among others are going to be discussed.

For Costa Rica these aspects are very important, because the country does not have a special law to rule over that kind of transactions.

The main goal is to generate a positive change, which will help us to move forward a more effective consumer’s protection in the context of electronic trading,

declared Welmer Ramos, Minister of Economy.

This forum is part of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

In addition, on September 14th, the X Meeting of the Iberoamerican Forum of Governmental Agencies for the Consumer’s Protection (FIAGC) is going to be held.
