Mexican gang visited Costa Rica to steal jewelry stores

The Mexican organization that carried out two violent assaults last Tuesday at the Escazú jewelry stores, acted with a lot of premeditation and order.

This was revealed Walter Espinoza, director of the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ), who explained they discovered that two of the suspects entered Costa Rica on October 25th through a flight from Mexico City.

From that day until October 31th, they were devoted to planning the robbery successfully executed that day at Eurochronos in Multiplaza Escazú and Plaza Colonial, also in that canton.

Here 15 details of the group, revealed by the OIJ:
1. 15 to 20 people participate in the group.
2. The OIJ has identified five Mexicans.
3. They stayed at hotels in downtown San José. They made online reservations to avoid leaving traces.
4. They bought two cars in cash to people of good faith. With these they moved in the country and used them to commit the crimes.
5. They bought the mallets used to break the display cases in recognized hardware stores.

6. They bought pellet guns, after failing to acquire real weapons.
7. There is a woman identified among the criminals.
8. After committing robberies, they returned to one of the hotels. They left no traces that can identify them.
9. Two of the subjects entered the country on October 25th (Pérez Munguía and Pérez Huerta).
10. One day later, on October 26th, another two men (Alvirde and Cortés) entered by air.

11. Another subject, surnamed Ríos, entered the country on October 29th. He had never visited Costa Rica.
12. OIJ suspects they might still be in Costa Rican territory. But, they could have left the country illegally.
13. In Mexico, they committed similar robberies, using assault rifles.
14. OIJ does not rule out collaboration with Costa Rican criminals.
15. They are labeled as criminals with violent profiles and accustomed to using heavy weapons.
