MINAE has three months to improve Park’s conditions

The Central Pacific Health Area Director gave the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) and the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC) a period of three months to improve the conditions of Manuel Antonio National Park.

As confirmed by the press office of the Ministry, the three months were given to the national authorities to solve problems ranging from breach of law 7600, to inconveniences with sewage.

Quepos’ Governing Area ordered the immediate closure of the park after an inspection revealed the risk for the tourists, but the Regional Directorate granted the 3 months of extension.

The report by Quepos’ authorities indicates problems with wastewater, drinking water, the presence of rodents and non-compliance with law 7600 in access to the park.
