Minister of Finance is evaluating the possibility of transfering money from PANI to the Ministry of Security

The Ministry of Finance is considering the proposal from the Partido Unidad Social Cristiana of taking resources from the National Children’s Trust and give it to the Ministry of Security, that would use it to hire more police officers.

Amid the discussion of the Corporation Act, this possibility arises from the urgency to have more officers. The goal is to transfer 25 billion colones from an entity to the other.

What we think, which is not definite yet, is that if there is a cut in the PANI budget, then we will be able to replace those resources to fulfill the mandate of the First Chamber,

declared José Francisco Pacheco, Vice Minister of Expenditure from the Ministry of Finance.

For us, the fundamental solution is to look for the fund sustainability intended to public safety,

concluded the vice minister.
