Ministry of Security reaffirms the need of hiring new police officers

The decision of the legislators from the Finance Commission to make a onetime transfer of 25 billion colones to the Ministry of Security from the National Children’s Trust (PANI) seemed to be the solution to the emergency of hiring more police officers.

However, the Ministry authorities don’t think of it as the solution, since it would allow them to hire the officers but then they wouldn’t be able to continue paying their salaries.

The approval of the Companies Act would grant the resources that they need to increase and maintain the security forces, which requires three thousand more officers. With the money from PANI, they would be able to hire 1500.

Although to hire more police officer was not contemplated as part of the intended use of the recollections at the beginning, the Executive included a motion to the project in order to do so.
