Mother of missing American calls Costa Rican mothers for help

Luda Gimelfarb feels that her son is alive. David disappeared eight years ago in the Rincón de la Vieja National Park and until now the judicial authorities do not know anything about his whereabouts.

The woman told that she feels that her son is alive and asks Costa Rican mothers to help her find him. She doesn’t want anybody else to go through the hell she has experienced since August 11th, 2009.

David Gimelfarb was born on December 2nd, 1980. This Christmas he will be 37. His parents come year after year to Costa Rica, in order to update the information from the judicial authorities, although in the United States they are always on Facebook and checking their e-mail, waiting for a clue.

Rome Gimelfarb, David’s father, explained that the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) maintains communication with an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) who resides in Panama and sees regional cases linked to US citizens.

They do not have any new information. They had a witness who said they saw David at about 3 p.m. at the Hotel Hacienda Guachipelín, where he was staying. Also, four years ago they sent a photograph of a person who could be David in poor condition, and the last thing is that a woman took a very similar man to the OIJ, but they say they let him go.

This couple maintains a $ 100,000 reward for the person who gives them information that can help them find the whereabouts of their child.

They live day and night checking their mail, although people have also tried to defraud them.

Indeed, in October 2013, they received phone calls and e-mails telling them they would return their child in exchange for a $250,000 delivery. However, the judicial authorities established that these were calls made from La Reforma Prison.

The young man’s father asks people to contact the US embassy, the OIJ, or send an e-mail to gimelfarb@comcast.net

That August 11th, 2009, David Gimelfarb seemed to have been swallowed by the earth. He left his passport, cell phone, a total of $ 600 dollars and other belongings at the hotel. The rental car he was driving was also parked in the parking lot of the hotel.
