Municipalities create strategies to fight drugs

This week, a group of 15 municipalities will develop different strategies to fight drugs in the national cantons.

Part of the initiative takes into account the experience of Argentine municipalities, with a plan implemented by the Secretary of Comprehensive Policies on Drugs of the Republic of Argentina (Sedronar).

Fifteen municipalities will benefit from this training, join forces, actively participate and believe in their positive impact,”

said Karal Rojas, coordinator of International Cooperation of the National Union of Local Governments (UNGL).

The cantons that received the training are San José, Desamparados, Moravia, Escazú, Alajuelita, Curridabat, Tibás, Coicoechea, Mora, Santa Ana, Montes de Oca, Alajuela, Belén, La Unión and Quepos.

The hierarchs of the municipalities are trained with entities such as the Ministry of Security and the Costa Rican Institute on Drugs (ICD), with a training process called “Growing in Leadership Communities in Action”.
