Native communities are also donating food to help victims of hurricane Otto

In the wake of Hurricane Otto, hundreds of Costa Ricans have made donations for the affected families in Upala and other communities.

To the surprise of many and as role models, the inhabitants from the indigenous area of Baja Talamanca are also part of this initiative.

From Amubri, Cachabli, Shiroles, Katsi, Suretka and other communities of difficult access, food in boats started to arrive through Sixaola river.

In addition, Bribri, Sixaola, Cahuita and Hone Creeck communities have also joined the donor group.

The Red Cross of Talamanca, Valle La Estrella and Limón continues to request Limón’s people’s collaboration and up to this moment, a truck full of provisions has been sent to Upala.

Residents who want to collaborate can do so by approaching any of the three mentioned locations, which are always open.
