Nearly 500 high-tech solar panels will generate about 40% savings in energy consumption in the food area of the mixed-use building in Avenida Escazú, west of the capital.

The solar panels cover an area of 1,056 square meters and were installed by the company Sunshine Energía Solar. The project, whose investment amounts to more than $165,000, is financed by the bank Promerica, as part of its “Green Credits”, a three-year-old program, according to Federico Chavarría, the entity’s assistant business manager.

The solar panels will power the cooling systems, lights, elevators and power outlets of the food court for monthly savings of more than $2,400 and more than $29,000 per year.

Eduardo Kopper, president of Sunshine indicatedthat

this project directly impacts the cost savings based on the application of state-of-the-art technology, which has a positive impact on the country’s sustainability.”

Adriana Acosta, marketing manager of Portafolio Inmobiliario, said that this

is an innovative project for the country and the production of cleaner and more efficient energy.”

It is expected that the consumption to be replaced with its installation is 69% and the projected production for the first year is about 227,496 kwh.
