The new bridges of Bajo Los Ledezma in Uruca and Barrio la Gloria, known as “the motels” between Zapote and San Francisco de Dos Ríos, will cost the country a total of ¢ 2,980 million, according to the Municipality of San José.
The problem in both structures is not new, however with the intensity of the last rains they both have collapsed, which causes danger for drivers and a delay to those who move through these routes.
Johnny Araya, mayor of San José, asked on Tuesday for the approval of the second installment of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) program for the Cantonal Red Vial program, to pay for bridge costs: ¢2 billion for the one in Bajo Los Ledezma and ¢980 for the one Barrio La Gloria.
While this loan is being processed, Araya also asked Iván Brenes, president of the National Emergency Commission (CNE), to dredge the Torres River in Bajo Los Ledezma sector.
