The Chamber of Fuel Businessmen created what they call a National Commission to stop the illegal traffic of gasoline and other hydrocarbons.
Engineer Alberto Mesén, president of the Chamber, said that the Commission will be in charge of training police bodies on these irregularities. Likewise, they will follow up on the procedures, as well as the complaints filed.
The Commission will be integrated by lawyers, a member of each region that constitutes the Chamber, members of the Board of Directors; also, representatives of government institutions such as MINAE, ARESEP, Ministry of Health, and Treasury, among others, they will all be convened to join this Commission,”
said Mesén.
In addition, they warned of the accelerated increase in irregular trade in hydrocarbons.
This activity generates great losses to the country, pollutes the environment and threatens the health of Costa Ricans, because it is carried out in the open, without any type of control,”

José Miguel Masís, Executive Director of the Chamber of Fuels Entrepreneurs, assured that the organized groups have managed to penetrate formal businesses. There is also an extensive network of illicit distribution in properties, workshops, industrial groups, commerce and transportation, among others.
