I envision that the national population feel that the institution is here to benefit their physical and social health, privileging social security and solidarity that have made Costa Rica in a unique and admired nation in the world.”
These were the remarks by Dr. Andrés Castillo to take office as President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Costa Rica.
Castillo has over 38 years of experience in the practice of medicine and he is a specialist in internal medicine.
The doctor said that during his tenure, he will guide its work program to ensure the quality of the practice of medicine, and seek the welfare of the population, among others.
To be the President of the College of Physicians is a great challenge, which I accept with the commitment to comply with ethics, honesty, equity, transparency, efficiency and effectiveness, always seeking the best for Costa Rica, the citizens, the members, the profession and the institution,”
said Castillo.
Doctor Castillo has held various positions throughout his career: He was director of Dr. Tomás Casas Casajús Hospital, in Osa, head of the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Service of Monseñor Sanabria Hospital, creator and president of the first committee of intra-hospital infections and head of Internal Medicine and External Consultation at Calderón Guardia Hospital.
The new Board of Directors of the College of Physicians was completed wih Carlos Salazar in the vice-presidency; Grethel Cabezas as Treasurer, Carlos Díaz as secretary, Grace Curlin and Pablo Monge, as vocals and Orlando Urroz, in the Office of the Prosecutor.
The term of this new Board will be from 2017 to 2019.
