Nigerians sent cocaine in packages from Costa Rica to the world

A gang composed of two Nigerians sent cocaine from Costa Rica to Asia, Africa and Europe. The subjects hid the drug in packages and had false identities and documents.

The subjects were captured by the Drug Control Police (PCD) of the Ministry of Security, after an investigation in conjunction with the Directorate of Intelligence and National Security (DIS).

The packages traveled by means of courier companies by courier service. The investigation began on July 14th, 2017. Apparently, the subjects hid cocaine within licit products. In total, the PCD linked them with at least 26 cases. It is presumed that they tried to send almost 8 kilos of cocaine.

The leader of the organization is surnamed Onyebuchi and they are 37 years old. Another man named Emogor, 43, who would be the main collaborator, was also arrested. They both had refugee applications.

On Thursday, the PCD raided homes in Coronado, La Carpio, and a room in a hotel located downtown San José.

The subjects were caught with an envelope apparently ready to be trafficked. This contained a compact disc with double lining and inside it had 8.7 grams of cocaine. More than one thousand colones in cash were also found, in addition to $ 202, handicrafts used to hide the drug and two machines to vacuum seal.

This case had the collaboration of the International Drug Control Administration (DEA for its acronym in English), an entity that inspected a shipment in Miami, United States.

The package was placed on December 12th and had two water filters containing 573 grams of cocaine.
