No quorum in Legislative Assembly for the second time in a week

For the second time in a week, legislators could not meet in session for lack of quorum.

Thursday’s session could not be completed because there were only 37 lawmakers present, while the minimum required is 38.

The president of the Legislative Assembly, Antonio Álvarez, pointed out that eight legislators have permits and 4 have disabilities.

However, there were other 8 legislators that did not have any type of permit and still skipped the session.

On Tuesday, the congressmen were also unable to meet due to a lack of quorum.

Álvarez said the presence of legislators in November is difficult because only the draft national budget is discussed, which is “very tiring for some.”

However, he stated that “it is unjustifiable and unforgivable” that they cannot have a session.
