“Octubre Urbano” wants to promote the best areas of the city and make people enjoy of those sites.

As part of an initiative led by the Ministry of Justice and Peace, the municipalities of Montes de Oca and Curridabat, along with public and private companies, launched on October 3rd the #SoyCiudad campaign.

Victor Barrantes, Vice Minister of Peace, explained that the World Habitat Day is celebrated on October 3rd and the campaign will run until October 30th. It will include 60 activities to help people to identify the benefits that are available at the cities.

We hope that the city becomes a place to meet, instead of a place to escape from. We need to promote the city,

said Barrantes.

#SoyCiudad Include, among other things, a tour through the several public transportations that can be used by inhabitants.

The urban groups started last year, but this time the celebration is bigger,

expressed the Vice Minister. He also added that the cities with meeting points become safer places.

The schedule of the activities will be available through Octubre Urbano Facebook page (click here). They will promote culture, knowledge, inspiration and comfort to the cities.

The campaign also involved the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT), the Ministry of Housing and Human Settlements (MIVAH), the Costa Rican Institute of Railroads (INCOFER), among others.
