Legislator Otto Guevara raised his voice in the Legislative Plenary against the inaction of the government to solve the problematic between the red taxis and Uber that has turned into a battle in the streets.

asked the legislator, accusing the Executive of promoting the persecution of drivers by the Traffic Police.
Guevara recalled Monday’s incident in the vicinity of Heredia Hospital, when a several officers got into a vehicle to check it and later handcuffed and brought the driver to the prosecution. According to the legislator, this was abuse of authority.
The Minister of the Presidency, Sergio Alfaro, assured they cannot take more actions other than deploying the Traffic Police.
But Guevara assures the problem has a simple solution.
I was reading the law that regulates the subject of the remunerated transport of people and I see that there is an article, the third one, which establishes the possibility for the MOPT to regulate the special service, transport of people through technological platforms,”
said Guevara, who added that “the Executive Power could do that right now.”
According to the Libertarian, the government should not fear a confrontation with taxi drivers, whose numbers have decreased.
