Otto took away the mosquitoes, but don’t lower your guard!

The winds and rain caused by hurricane Otto would give a slight break to mosquitoes-transmitted diseases, but citizens can’t get distracted.

Rodrigo Marín, in charge of vector control at the Ministry of Health, informed that as days pass by, there could be cases of dengue, zika and chikungunya, as well as leptospirosis.

The mosquitoes are carried away by the wind, the floods, they left. However, in a few weeks we could have problems, because there are many articles thrown on the streets, there is stagnant water in some places. These diseases may appear, as well as malaria fever, although in Costa Rica we are well,

explained Marín.

The teams that are fighting breeding sites will start visiting the affected areas on November 28th.
