Pacific on alert for bad weather and river flooding

The area of ​​the Costa Rican Pacific is alert to the climatic conditions that have caused heavy rains in Guanacaste and Puntarenas, whith several river flooding during Sunday afternoon.

According to the National Meteorological Institute (IMN), rainfall amounts of up to 25 millimeters in the Pacific, while up to 75 millimeters of rainfall in the North Zone and 60 millimeters were recorded on Saturday afternoon and evening in Guanacaste.

In some towns, such as Cóbano, Paquera and Jicaral, the flooding of several rivers that threaten these communities with overflows was reported.

According to an IMN report, during the early hours of Sunday morning, intermittent downpours and variable intensity were maintained in the Central, South Pacific and on the coast of the Nicoya Peninsula.
