PLN warns of possible cronyism in INAMU

Legislator Maureen Clarke, head of the National Liberation Party (PLN), criticized the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Alejandra Mora, for alleged cronyism at the National Institute of Women (INAMU).

Clarke said the institution limited the competition for projects between 2014 and 2015 to benefit only women who have participated in the administration of Luis Guillermo Solís.

The projects are financed by the Fund for the Promotion of Productive Activities and Organization of Women (FOMUJERES), created by Laura Chinchilla’s government to promote women’s economic empowerment.

Despite the initiative’s merit, Clarke criticized the exclusion of women who participated in previous editions of the fairs.

In a letter, the legislator asked Mora to clarify the criteria for the selection of beneficiaries and the reasons for restricting the call.

It raises many doubts and benefiting only people in this government seems like cronyism,”

said Clarke.
