Matina’s Public Force Officers rescued a sloth wounded with a machete and her offspring on Monday night while they were carrying out patrols in the community of La Trocha, in the district of Batán, Limón.
Both animals were found by officers, after they received the alert of a subject that attacked them with a machete.
Upon arriving at the place, the man took advantage of the darkness and hid in the vegetation.
The sloth and her offspring were transferred to a veterinary clinic in Batán where they were receiving the corresponding treatment.
Once recovered, both animals will return to their habitat.
