On Sunday, President Carlos Alvarado showed his concern after the arrests made by the Nicaraguan government during the “United for freedom” protest that the opposition was trying to carry out in Managua.
The activity, which had a message of repudiation of the repression of the government of Daniel Ortega, was repressed with police violence.

twitted Alvarado.
His message was backed by Vice President and Chancellor Epsy Campbell, who called for internal dialogue in Nicaragua, with oversight from the international community.
Once again, Costa Rica calls for the end of repression and arbitrary arrests against demonstrators in Nicaragua. We ask the International Community for its mediation so that in Nicaragua the necessary conditions are restored to allow the dialogue,”
wrote Campbell on her social networks.
According to international media, the arrests were made while a peaceful march was taking place in the Nicaraguan capital.
The former president of the Republic, Laura Chinchilla, was more forceful in her message and asked President Alvarado to include Costa Rica among the countries that call for the application of the Democratic Charter of the Organization of American States (OAS).
The Democratic Charter establishes the essential elements of representative democracy, such as respect for human rights, the separation and independence of public powers, and freedom of expression, as well as the protocol for taking joint actions regarding a country.
OAS Secretary General, Luis Almagro, demanded that the Nicaraguan government stop repression and intimidation, release the protesters, and that it respect the right to peaceful demonstrations.
