President: strike hasn’t had a major impact on services

The strike hasn’t had a major impact on public services provided by the government,”

said President Carlos Alvarado about the national strike of public employees against the fiscal plan being discussed in the Legislative Assembly.

Acording to the President, the government has been able to keep most services running, highlighting the operation of ports and fuel distribution. He added that, until noon on Monday, 15 institutions had already declared the strike illegal.

Alvarado stated, once more, that this protest is unjustified and improper and that his doors are still open for dialogue with the unions, as long as the strike is called off. He insisted on the fact that the fiscal project with new taxes won’t be withdrawn from Congress.
