President will remain incapacitated until November 10th

President Luis Guillermo Solís will remain incapacitated until November 10th. Although initially Solís had indicated that his surgery was minor and that he would be back in the office within two weeks, the doctors decided to extend this period. This was announced by the Minister of Communication, Mauricio Herrera.

According to Herrera, the extension of the healing process is to prevent Solís from presenting any bleeding, problem or complication.

Solís recently underwent surgery after detecting an enlarged prostate. Although the examinations proved he did not have cancerous agents, he decided to have the procedure done immediately to be able to sleep without waking up to urinate six times a night.

The president’s surgery took place amidst the main controversy in the country’s institutions, with an investigation of possible influence peddling in the three branches of the Republic to favor cement importer Juan Carlos Bolaños.
