Project aims to digitize processes and save on paper

Mario Redondo, legislator from the Christian Democratic Alliance (ADC), proposed an amendment to the Rules of the Legislature to save the resources that Congress uses to publish bills and create a digital record.

If the initiative is successful, the Assembly would not have to to publish the bills in the National Printing and would save approximately ¢174 million a year.

The legislators believes that this record will help achieve a more efficient participation of citizens in the making of laws.

Redondo asked the heads of parliamentary blocs to allow the proposal to be exempt from formalities to promptly reform Article 177 of the regulation process.

The Legislature invested ¢ 1,136,922 million in publishing projects between January 2010 and July 2016, according to a report by the Finance Department.
