Project to create National Police Academy is ready

´According to Security Minister Gustavo Mata, the bill to create the National Police Academy and is ready and will soon be sent to the Legislature.

Mata explained that the purpose of the initiative is to train and prepare professionals who provide the service of public safety, and offer them the opportunity of a specialized career.

According to the text, the Academy would have the power to:

-Train students and grant academic degrees and bachelor, undergraduate and graduate diplomas.
-Promote institutional collaboration and exchange with public and private universities, the judiciary and other national or foreign institutions with similar purposes.
-Sell training services to state institutions, public or private entities, national or international agencies, municipalities and natural or legal persons engaged in private security.
-Authorize and supervise public or private bodies recognized to provide the private security courses required by law.

The Academy would have its own budget within the overall budget of the Ministry of Public Security, and it would also establish the prices for the training and specialization courses it will offer.
