One of the objectives of the National Food Plan sponsored by the Costa Rican Chamber of Restaurants (CACORE), the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) and the Government is that people cook and eat traditional Costa Rican dishes.

Alejandro Madrigal, Executive Director of CACORE, explained that they will carry out various activities contemplated in the plan, such as the information forum that took place this Monday before noon.

Let’s talk about state policy on food and education, challenges and opportunities (…) Another issue is the economic contribution of gastronomy to the country,”

said Madrigal.

The objectives of the forum are promoting the use of native food products derived from sustainable agricultural, aquaculture and fisheries production practices, and encouraging the development of inclusive gastronomic experiences.

Legislator Nidia Jiménez warned that we cannot let indigenous foods get lost in time,

we cannot allow people to stop eating healthy.”

Jiménez and Madrigal emphasize that it is important that the sector is well informed on sustainable and healthy cuisine, to become the first country in the world to have a sustainable food and links between the productive sectors.
