Prosecutor to appeal acquittal of criminal known as “Ojos Bellos”

Following the acquittal of Dinier Estrada Jiménez, also known as “Ojos Bellos”, for the crime committed against a girl from Limón, the Public Ministry informed that they will await the full sentence in order to file an appeal.

“Ojos Bellos” was acquitted by the Criminal Court of Limón this Thursday. However, this was the second trial he faced in this case, as he was convicted in April 2015 and sentenced to 33 years in prison.

Despite the acquittal, Estrada will continue under arrest because he is facing other criminal cases. Meanwhile, his alleged accomplice, named Rivas, is serving a sentence for homicide.

The crime occurred on December 17th, 2010 in El Limoncito neighborhood of Limón. The 12-year-old girl, who was leaving her school, was shot in the head. Apparently, there was a shooting between gangs.
