Puntarenas has an outpatient surgery center!

From now on, Puntarenas citizens can receive the treatment they require in the Monseñor Sanabria Outpatient Surgery Center, and then go home, thanks to the implementation of new equipment.

Among them, there are dialysis services for patients with chronic kidney failure, chemotherapy, palliative care and pain care, antibiotic therapy, care for patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), among others.

Jorge Fonseca, director of the Network of Health Services of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) declared that the goal is that the patient enters in the mornings to use this service, doctors make the diagnosis, the patient receives a treatment and then goes home without being hospitalized. If the situation requires it, the person can return the following day to continue the doctor’s prescription.

They aim to assist about 120 people per day and for this reason 66 beds and recliners were purchased. The waiting room has a capacity of 84 seats and there are 5 rooms where healing procedures, medical procedures and wound cleansing will be performed.
