Rainfall in Tilarán caused losses for ¢138 million on farms

Losses from last-day rains and landslides that affected the communities of Viejo Arenal and Tronadora de Tilarán in Guanacaste amounted to at least ¢ 138 million, according to the National Emergency Commission (CNE).

The institution reports approximately 7,421 hectares of land affected, nine dead animals, several landslides in the stretch to Río Chiquito, in the Route that connects Tronadora with El Silencio.

For the moment, it is estimated that farmers need bales, dairy concentrate, fattening concentrate, molasses and fertilizers to care for the animals they serve.

There are about 211 farms affected, 11 of them with serious problems because they lost water supply for livestock and much of the spaces that gave in in the landslide were pastures.

Work is underway on the rehabilitation of the national route 926. CONAVI is also trying to clear the sewers that were affected by the sediments.
