Rándall Picado: “it is alarming to see young people under the influence”

Despite the organizers’ efforts to provide a more familiar environment in Palmares festivities, dozens of young people prefer to drink alcohol and use drugs until they pass out.

Rándall Picado Jiménez, regional head of Alajuela Public Force, confirmed that during the last weekend, they had multiple cases where young people looked like ‘skittles’ knocked down on the ground.

From the police’s point of view, attendance to the concert that was held on January 15th was lower than in other years. However, the number of people apprehended was higher.

Picado said that among those apprehended, there are men and women equally.

They are all very young, they are under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and they take advantage of such events to consume the most they can. It is worrying to see young girls and boys under the influence of drugs,

declared the official.

Authorities seized marijuana, cocaine and crack on January 12th.

Palmares festivities will take place from January 12th to January 23rd, 2017.
