Report it! Rains trigger traffic lights failure

With the arrival of the rainy season, caution on the road must be greater, since the damages in the traffic lights increase in this period.

This was warned by the Department of Traffic Lights of the General Direction of Traffic Engineering.

Short circuits, damage from water filtration in components and thunderstorm discharges are part of the breakdowns.

It is estimated that, each month, the institution receives 600 notifications, a figure that increases from May.

Thus, if you identify a failing stoplight in the vicinity of your home or on the way to work, authorities request help to report it.

The reports by official means allow to speed up the repair process, and you can even avoid traffic accidents caused by the failures,”

recalled Diego Rugama, head of the Traffic Department.

The institution has 9 channels to report a damaged traffic light: 5 via the Internet and 4 by phone. Note that it is necessary to send the exact address and a brief description of the problem.

In the Metropolitan Area, attention is provided within 24 hours. In rural areas it takes a little longer, according to MOPT.
