Road to San Carlos includes tunnels for animals

To avoid the common death of wildlife in the roads of the country, the construction of a new road to San Carlos also includes the construction of underpasses for animals in the northern end of the road (section Ciudad Quesada-Florecia).

According to the Asociación Procarretera a San Carlos, one of the paths is 2 by 2 meters, and the other one will measure 1,5 by 1,5 meters.

The association stated that

They were able to find pumas, anteaters, toads, frogs and more through videos that also helped locate the places where the circulation of wildlife might be endangered, once the new road between Florencia and Ciudad Quesada is active.

The exact location of the paths is kept secret, in order to avoid alerting nearby hunters.
