Romanian Prosecutor arrested in Costa Rica was convicted in her country

The former Romanian prosecutor, Alina Bica, who was arrested and released in Costa Rica was sentenced to four years in prison by the Romanian justice.

Bica, former prosecutor of the Directorate to Investigate Organized Crime and Terrorism (Diicot) between 2006 and 2014, received a new sentence on November 27th, according to Romanian media. She was sentenced to four years in jail for the offense of favoring an alleged offender.

Apparently, she was in the country since the beginning of 2018 and was arrested in October of that year during a joint operation between the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) and Interpol. She was wanted by the justice in her country, along with former legislator Elena Udrea. Both supposedly hid in Costa Rica.

However, she was released after the High Court of Justice of Romania agreed to suspend the sentence, as the Court was poorly formed. However, this week the appeal was resolved and the sentence was re-established.

According to G4Media.ro, the police went last Wednesday to Bica’s house, but she was gone. It is now believed that women are not in Costa Rica, but in Spain.
