San José will build a technology park to attract investment

San José will have a technology park to hopefully attract investment from companies that increase the population’s working and development opportunities.

Johnny Araya, mayor of the capital, announced the creation of the Local Economic Development Agency, which in charge of the project.

The agency will be made up of an Advisory Board with the participation of public and private entities, such as the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce (MEIC), the Association of Entrepreneurs for Development, the Costa Rican Trade Promotion Agency (PROCOMER), The Costa Rican Coalition for Development Initiatives (CINDE), the Ministry of Foreign Trade (COMEX) and the National Bank.

With this agency, San José will start hunting investments in services, technology and medical sciences.

Projects

The most important project that this agency already has is the creation of the Technological Park. The municipality proposes to build it in a land of its property, located in the municipal building.

In addition to technology companies, it is expected to install some universities, such as the Technological Institute of Costa Rica (TEC).
