School lunch supplier suspended for selling horse meat

A supplier of the school lunch program was suspended after a study found it has been distributing horse meat to schools in Cartago.

The supplier was suspended on May, 25th and the authorities are preparing other legal actions against the producer.

According to the National Production Council (CNP), the provider met all the requirements to supply food to the school lunch program.

The authorities consider this is serious because it threatens the quality of food provided to students and also taints the image of a major program for small and medium producers.
