Second Complaint Filed against National Restoration Legislator

The president of the Legislative Assembly, Carolina Hidalgo, filed a complaint with the Public Ministry against the National Restoration legislator Melvin Núñez. This is the second accusation against him in a matter of a week.

Hidalgo confirmed that she filed the complaint last week, after legislator Floria Segreda, for alleged threats Núñez sent through WhastApp voice clips, due to a dispute over the conformation in the commission of Nominations.

In the audios, Núñez refers to the president of Congress as “the old woman from PAC” and questions Segreda for allegedly agreeing with Hidalgo to work against him.

The previous week the head of the National Restoration faction, Carlos Avendaño, said that the issue had already returned to normal and that both legislators had asked each other for forgiveness. They appeared in a video where Núñez apologizes to Segreda, who then said she would not withdraw the complaint until she was convinced of the real repentance of the legislator.

The Attorney General of the Republic confirmed the complaint against Núñez Piña is investigated, for the alleged crime of threat to a public official, filed by Hidalgo.

The case is in the preparatory phase of the investigation, which means that the Public Ministry works in the collection and analysis of evidence; this stage is private for third parties, according to article 295 of the Criminal Procedure Code,”

informed the Press Department of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
