SENASA will look after the welfare of horses in Tope de Palmares

The National Animal Health Service (SENASA) ensured the welfare of the horses at the Tope de Palmares on January 11th, since officials were vigilant on some aspects, such the number of people on each animal, and the ban on galloping and the use of lacerating spurs, whips or other objects.

SENASA together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) and the Civic Association Palmareña, made an operational work plan to ensure that the activities of these celebrations are carried out in accordance with the law.

This includes for the Tope to have the presence of six officers of SENASA, two veterinarians responsible for the activity, in addition to the support of students from the National Technical University (UTN), to provide veterinary assistance if necessary.

In Tope de San José, which was held on December 26th, 20 horses were confiscated for different injuries. The participants must send the equines to their place of origin once the top is finished to avoid contagion of diseases.
