Senior citizen wins eviction appeal

A 79-year-old woman won an eviction appeal against the Ministry of Health, which ruled her house as “uninhabitable”.

The Constitutional Chamber was in favor of the appeal and asked the entities involved to find a solution.

The woman is a retiree from the non-contributory scheme and lives with her 2 children (46 and 49) diagnosed with mental retardation. The Ministry of Health ordered their eviction, although she has no financial resources to build a new home, causing her and her children to become homeless.

The Chamber gave the Rectoría de la Salud Central Sur and Área Rectora de Salud de Santa Ana 3 months to find a solution for the woman and her family, while maintaining the suspension of the sanitary order.
