One of the four archaeological sites with stone spheres, located in the canton of Osa, suffered partial damage after tropical storm Nate.

Through a press release, the National Museum of Costa Rica reported that the archaeological site Finca 6 was flooded. The rest (El Silencio, Grijalba and Batambal) were undamaged after floods and landslides in recent days.

These locations were declared a World Heritage Site, so the State has an obligation to report damage and reestablishment plans to UNESCO and the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).

From next week a team of archaeologists, curators and an architect will enter the site to make the corresponding assessments.

Although the Finca 6 site was the only one affected, the remaining 3 will also remain closed until authorities have the report by the technical team that will travel to the area.
