Solís: ICT employees’ demonstration “is enigmatic”

According to president Luis Guillermo Solís, the decision of 300 employees from the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) to jump into the streets with posters and demands is “enigmatic”.

The Minister of Tourism, Mauricio Ventura, doesn’t even have a proposal, and only said that the past administration made excessive hiring, which should be reviewed because

this would be an unbearable administrative burden

in the medium and long term.

Solís said a dialogue in the institution is necessary and that they should imitate RECOPE’s union negotiations with the management to reach an agreement on collective contracts.

The ICT’s president, on the other hand, said the financial situation of the institution was not the best and that without any correction, 8 or 9 years from now it will be in bankruptcy.
