Some legislators at the Legislative Assembly have recently criticized the work of the Executive Power and President Luis Guillermo Solís, mainly for their decision to remove the discussion on the salary regulations from the agenda.
Sandra Piszk, Ottón Solís, Maureen Clark, Rosibel Ramos and others have showed their disagreement with the government’s work because they think it gave in to the unions’ pressures and some even asked the President to leave if he does not want to rule anymore.
Solis did not remain in silence and he denied that his Administration kneeled before the unions or yielded to their pressures:
They attack and attack the government, expecting us not to answer. I think this is important. It’s enough, the government’s institutionality is being questioned and we need to talk about it. If a debate is necessary, so let’s have one.
The President asked some legislators, such as Piszk and Ottón, to review what they had done to contain the expense, when they were part of other governments. He mainly referred to Piszk, because she was Minister of Labor.
According to the leader, his administration managed to renegotiate the collective agreements of several institutions, something that no one had done in 20 years.
the president went further and blamed Partido de Liberación Nacional and Partido Unión Social Cristiana for not having done anything to reduce the state spending.
if it was so easy, why didn’t they do it before? They could have done a lot since their parties ruled the country for about 60 years,
declared Solís.
