Solís: “the Central Bank’s autonomy prevents us from changing the decision”

President Luis Guillermo Solís thinks that the salary increase approved by the board of the Central Bank is inappropiate and to the detriment of the message of the Government.

Solís declared that Minister of Finance Helio Fallas, who is member of the board, did not approve the increase and although there are several directors who are part of the government, the Bank’s autonomy prevents them from acting against the decision and to try anything could start a crisis.
