Starbucks to Present New Coffee with Costa Rican grains

Next Thursday, the coffee chain Starbucks will present its new coffee “Hacienda Alsacia”, made with grains grown on the first farm acquired by the company in 2013.

The farm, located in the foothills of Poás Volcano in Alajuela, is used by Starbucks as a laboratory to improve coffee varieties, making them more resistant to climate and disease.

According to information published by the company on its website, about ten hectares of the farm are currently devoted exclusively to research and development.

The company also ensures that sharing the knowledge it acquires in this farm helps to guarantee a good supply in the future, as well as improving varieties of the Arabica type.
