Strong earthquake hits several areas of the country

A strong earthquake occurred at 3:43 p.m. on Monday afternoon. The earthquake was perceived in Tibás, los Sitios de Moravia, Jacó, Oreamuno, Escazú, Sabana, Poás, Guadalupe, Tres Ríos, Alajuela, Orotina, Naranjo, Puriscal and Puntarenas, among others.

According to the National Volcanological and Seismological Observatory (OVSICORI), the telluric movement had an intensity of 4.6, and the epicenter was located 23.0 km Southwest of Parrita, in Puntarenas.

The National Seismological Network indicates that the earthquake had an intensity of 5.2.
