Strong winds cause green alert

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) declared a green alert for the North Pacific, Central Pacific, Caribbean and North Zone regions due to the influence of the Cold Front #2, which will generate strong winds.

In a statement, the CNE reported that

the greatest influx of the cold front is expected to occur on Thursday and Friday in the country; however, it is expected that windy conditions in the center and north of the national territory and rains in the Caribbean will extend to Saturday.

The CNE has already activated the Local Emergency Committees to be vigilant to the climatic conditions in areas of greatest risk and take preventive actions, as well as monitor local weather conditions and pay attention to reports from the National Meteorological Institute (IMN).

The authorities also requested to keep emergency plans activated, review available inventories for possible care of affected populations and maintain constant and permanent communication.

The CNE asked the population that lives in the areas at risk, stay informed and abide by the messages disclosed by the official authorities, as well as extreme measures and their impact on roofs, posts, electrical wiring, signs, trees and others.
