Students affected by hurricane Otto will receive a pleasant gift

Some of the money donated by Costa Ricans to help people affected by Hurricane Otto’s terrible consequences will be used to buy uniforms for students directly affected by it.

This is possible because president Luis Guillermo Solís signed a decree on February 14th.

Initially, 3,221 students will benefit from 24 educational centers located in Los Chiles, Upala, Guatuso, Sarapiquí, Bagaces, Osa, Golfito, Corredores and Pococí.

The legal representatives of the students must inform about their economic condition through data already available in databases, such as Avancemos or Fonabe, or through an information card.

The Administrative Boards will confirm the data and it will inform the National Emergency Commission (CNE), which administers the funds, the necessary amount for each of the centers.

After the money is donated to each student, they will have to prove, in no more than 5 days, the purchase or preparation of the uniform. In this way, they will able to receive a second amount of money for the acquisition of another uniform.

Applications must be submitted within a maximum of 15 days after the publication of the decree.
