Supreme Court asks candidates for serenity if difference in results is 2%

At 8 p.m. on Sunday the Supreme Electoral Tribunal had the solemn session to announce the first results of the second electoral round.

The President of the TSE, Luis Antonio Sobrado, was clear that there should be serenity on the part of candidates and political parties with these results, especially if the difference in the results is minimal.

In the event that the difference between Carlos Alvarado and Fabricio Alvarado does not reach 2% of the valid votes, the TSE must perform the manual count of the more than 6,500 votes throughout the whole country.

If this scenario occurs, candidates may refrain from declaring themselves winners or losers. The scrutiny will begin on Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the TSE headquarters.
